Periodic updates on Matthew's condition and ongoing prayers and words of encouragement for Matthew and his family.

Update - 7/6/07

Matthew's really been having a tough time recently - and continues to have rough things to deal with. He now has a tough strain of staph infection and is being treated with antibiotics. He's on his third round of antibiotics and if his body doesn't respond well to this one, then he'll need to be on a very serious antibiotic that is administered by I.V. over 4-6 weeks. A culture was done yesterday and it appears that he might be responding to the third antibiotic better than anticipated. He's very tired and takes a morning and afternoon nap, but he is eating much better.

Because of the staph infection, Matthew can't have the surgery to have the bachlofin pump replaced yet. So, he'll have to keep managing the muscle tone and discomfort. The incision in the front has healed well, but the first incision in his back to replace the catheter has not healed shut. This definitely is cause for concern. It is not unusual for staph infections to prevent wounds from healing.

It was discovered recently that Matthew has a blister on his left foot on the heel from the brace he wears after the surgery on his leg. This will prevent him from being able to stand during physical therapy until that heals. The pressure is painful on the sore when Matthew stands.

Please continue to keep Matthew in your prayers!

Andrew is doing pretty good with his hand in a cast. Quick movement of his hand causes him pain, but overall he doing well.

Have a great day!

Someday in God's time, He will reveal to the Kurz family and all of us the why, why, whys, of this whole ordeal. Their are still many of us out here in "Lutheran" land who continue to uphold Matthew and the whole family in our prayers for strength, healing, endurance and patience. We have no intension of stopping. This family is and has been such a witness to so many. Only in heaven will they know how many they have provided strength and
and a Christ-like example to. Thank you for your witness through such extreme difficulties and stress.God will bless your for your faithfulness.
