Matthew Back to Rusk

Matthew has returned to the Rusk rehab center in Columbia, MO. This is a positive development due to Matthew's growing self-sufficiency--walking more on his own, talking, drawing, and even opening his own mail...and enjoying that very much. Since Matthew is showing more self-sufficiency, the folks at Rusk are eager to help him more, and the state is willing to foot the bill.

Matthew would love to receive letters and cards. You can send them to:

Update - 7/6/08

More good news - this past week Matthew drew, with his RIGHT hand, a person standing. He was able to do this all by himself without any assistance. What a blessing! He is able to pick up objects with his right hand. Although his fingers are a little misformed, he is able to do more all the time with his right hand.

Matthew is also reading long complicated sentences and carrying on conversations that are a little more in-depth. Matthew also continues to walk with a cane with someone assisting him. He continues to make strides and we couldn't be more thankful.

The Kurz family would like to thank everyone who came to the fundraiser in Sedalia last weekend. There was a tremendous turn-out for the event. Thank you for your on-going prayers and support of the Kurz family and in particular, Matthew!
